It’s been awhile since I’ve posted here! Have no fear, I’ve been super busy with life AND photography, just little time to share work online as it’s always go-go-go!

This past weekend I went to NYC to visit with some friends and spent more time with my iPhone camera than my DSLR. That’s how it goes so often these days – we use the cameras we have with us at all times. For me, that’s my trusted mobile phone.

Instagram makes this even more fun – and while although I’m not a huge fan of filters and distortion, I really enjoy playing around with all the great options in this versatile app. I hope you enjoy a few of my favorites from Central Park, Grand Central Station, and the Brooklyn Bridge:

I had the great joy of spending Sunday in “Wonderland” with birthday girl L and her wonderful parents. Just one year new, she was full of smiles and laughter, and eager to explore the “wild” surroundings. Here is a quick sneak peek of some of my favorite images; the full gallery will be coming soon. Session Fun: Kind eyes and a golden sweetheart – meet Penny.

You’ve already met Skylar, Lacey, and Scooter. Now I’d like to introduce you to Penny, the family matriarch and a sweet, old soul. Penny has been a part of the family the longest, and she gets special privileges as a result. When it was time for her photo session, we moved into the front yard – an opportunity not often given to the other family dogs because Penny deserves her alone time from all the puppy craziness that sometimes occurs when all the other pups are together. We had hoped that Penny would rise to the occasion and do her crazy running circle-spins in the yard, but unfortunately, she was a tad shy despite great coaxing.

Initially hiding in the bushes, we eventually got her to emerge and take a few poses in front of the fence. There was a lot of crazy puppy fun (barking) happening in the backyard, which is what I think kept her from coming out of her shell, but I definitely had a chance to get to know her kind, soulful, and almost wild personality from the moments we spent together.

Penny is elegant and refined, weighted down with years of life experience and human love.

And boy can you tell in the way he carries himself. He’s full of pride and a little bit of arrogance, but super snuggly all the same. He was quite the poised fellow as I tried to capture his personality. He sat in the same place for long periods of time, and just looked up at me as if asking, “are you getting my good side?” Scooty, I hope you’re happy with how these turned out. I know I got a kick out of them.

On Location: Merry Christmas from Key West

We’re down in sunny Key West celebrating with family and enjoying a little R & R while the northeast freezes. I am fond of a white Christmas, but all the pina coladas and pirates around here have definitely made up for the lack of cold stuff. We rented an electric car today and puttered around the island late this afternoon. Our usual tradition is to see at least one movie, but the balmy breeze was calling. Here is a glimpse of how they celebrate Christmas in the Conch Republic.

After I had a chance to meet Sky, Lacey came out to play. Lacey is the youngest in the pack – at 1 years-old she’s full of energy and curiosity. So much so that it was hard for me to walk away from her and get a photo from faraway – she was desperate to keep my gaze and have me near enough to give her a neck rub. A big fan of snuggles and pets, and even more for her favorite chicken snacks, Lacey won me over with her strong desire to please and be loved, and of course with that adorable face!

Over the weekend I had the pleasure of catching up with an old high school friend AND photographing 4 dogs. Yes, 4! I drove up to the small town in rural Maryland where I went to and got to have a lot of doggie fun in her large backyard! All of the dogs were extremely different, yet, together made quite a loving pack. I really enjoyed getting to know each one, their unique personalities, and soaked in all those doggie kisses (and lots of muddy pawprints).

I had so much fun!

Since I spent alone time with each of the pups to capture their true essence as individuals, I thought it only fitting that each get their own sneak peek post.

Today I introduce you to Skylar, the leader of the pack in seniority and attitude. He rules the roost. A kind, old Australian shepherd, with a huge puppy streak. If I hadn’t known he was 10 years old, I would’ve thought he was the same age as my young pup, Atlas. Wild about his big red ball, and desperate for lots of butt rubs, Skylar completely stole my heart as you’ll see from the numerous of photos I chose to include here :).

In early November I had the good fortune to visit good friends in Colorado. Of course with all the outdoorsy fun, great food, and beer, I also managed to take a few photos of some delightful offspring. I’ve been wanting to meet Evie for awhile now, and she didn’t disappoint. Tiny yet huge in personality, this spunky kidlet charmed me and other houseguests. Thank you to Peter and Olga for showing me such great hospitality when I was in the area and for inviting me into yours and Evie’s world.

Sneak Peek: Atlas 2010 Holiday Preview

We spent the weekend in the woods taking photos for this year’s holiday card. Atlas’ fans are counting on it!

At 3 1/2 years, I was very impressed with my pup’s composure. Usually he gets carried away with his energy, but he was beyond patient with me (and I only had to drop half a bag of pumpkin mango dog treats!). He even stayed put when 30 screaming boy scouts came barreling into the forest, and he only ran off towards the park ranger twice :).

I’m looking forward to sharing the full shoot in all it’s glory, but here are a few cute ones that caught my eye. It’s been so long since we took photos, I forgot how much fun it is to capture his many moods.
